I don’t believe I ever shared the good news with you guys.
About four months ago, my little family grew by four furry paws.
Seventeen months after the death of Bandit, my husband and I adopted a lab mix who we named Lindy Ruff. (Insert all of the emotions here.)
The day we went to go look at the puppies, I was extremely nervous. I kept having flashbacks to the day my family got Bandit. Walking into a room that smelled like puppies. Hearing those little barks. Honestly, I wasn’t sure how I was going to handle it. After a three hour car ride (and getting lost, might I add) we finally pulled into the driveway.
We walked into the room with these little fur balls. They were so tiny! I looked at my husband and told him to pick out our pup. There were two boys that I played with and Josiah came and picked one of them up. He told me this was our boy. I asked him how he knew and he said he just did.
I love Lindy in a different way than I loved Bandit, but somehow he’s still stolen my whole heart.
It’s hard. Whenever I see another beagle or whenever I hear a hound howl, I think of Bandit. There are some stories that make me laugh and others that make me cry. I still miss him.
But Lindy has proven to me once again that life does go on. And if you’re willing to walk down the road, you’ll find beautiful surprises along the way and be greeted with more love than you deserve.
Lindy has made our family whole once again.
He is our one.
