One of the hardest aspects of being a funeral director is that it can be a very lonely career if you let it.
Not a lot of people understand death and dying.
Even less understand people that choose to work in that field.
I always joke around, that if I hadn’t started dating my husband when we were fifteen, that I would be single and alone right now. Dating is hard. Dating when you’re on call and smell like a funeral home can be even harder. I’m very thankful for a partner who is so supportive of my career choice and even more supportive when I have to miss family events and important dates. I couldn’t do this job without him. He is the only one who knows how to cheer me up when I’ve had an especially difficult day at work. He knows how to calm me when my stress is through the roof. He knows when to give me my space when I’m Godzilla Lauren on a terror.
Thanks, B. Thanks for being my one. You make me a better person, which in turn makes me a better funeral director.
