December 13, 2015: Holly, jolly, Christmas (take one).
I just don’t know what I was thinking when I decided to blog everyday during the most hectic time of year.
Do it, they said.
It’ll be fun, they said.
(Just kidding, no one said those things.)
But honestly, even though it has been difficult finding time in my day to sit down and write, I’m also loving every minute of it. Because it’s forcing me to reflect on my time, whether good or bad, and it’s making me appreciate this holiday season in so many ways.
Today we had a family Christmas party for my husband’s side. This was my tenth Christmas with these folks. Ten years ago, they welcomed me into their home as a fifteen year old who had just been with her boyfriend for two short months. His family is crazy, loud and so very loving. They make you feel like party of the gang, never an outsider. It’s an awesome feeling, to be welcomed and belonged.
I want to be more like them.
They’re good people.
I know that a lot of people marry into broken families and difficult relationships, but man, did I hit the jackpot. I married into a family that I will proudly raise children in one day. I married into a family that I can learn and grow from. I have blessings pouring into my life from both sides. What more could you ask for?
