This is all just my opinion.
by littlemissfuneral
Since I follow a ton of funeral sources on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, I end up reading a lot of articles on the business. There are a lot of opinions out there regarding funerals and funeral directors. A lot are negative; a lot aren’t. The thing that happens when you read a lot is you begin to form an opinion of your own.
I am twenty-four years old. Even though I grew up with a funeral home in the family, I did not grow up in a funeral home. This arrangement allowed me to be familiar with death and dying at an early age without it taking over a large portion of my life. I guess what I am trying to say, is that I’m still very new to this game.
I have a lot of opinions on death and dying. I have a lot more opinions on funerals and customs. But that’s what it is, my opinion. I am not an expert by any means. And I personally hate the word expert when it comes to funeral services. I don’t think you can be an expert in this field (look my opinion!). Because this is an ever changing and growing industry. I guess I’m bringing this all up because I am coming to terms with the fact that people actually read this blog of mine. And people get upset when your opinion doesn’t match their opinion. But guys, that’s the beauty, you know? That’s one of the reasons I love being a funeral director. You’re always learning. I have a few topics that have been rolling around in my mind, and I’ll get to writing about them one of these days. But remember, this is just a little funeral director’s blog, about topics as seen through her eyes. So if you like what I say, great. If you don’t that’s okay, too. Honestly, I’m just honored that you took the time to read what I wrote anyways! You all will never know how much every like, comment and follow means to me.
You have provided an insightful topic of discussion…and I applaud you for sharing your opinion about opinions! I fully agree, particular to the funeral industry, there are no experts. We all have experiences, opinions and different levels of performance…with social media as a platform to share all for collaborative mutual benefit is refreshing. Great work young lady and I look forward to more of your posts…Cheers.
You’re so awesome. I feel you are in ways my little altar ego if I was ever inspired enough to write a blog.
Even though I’m married to a Mortician and have a blog of my own…I’ve enjoyed reading your blog since I found it last year. It’s not easy keeping up with a blog much less trying to keep all your readers happy. But, with that said – you’re right. Sometimes we’re just happy having readers. Hey – if they’re responding, that’s a good thing; whether it’s positive or negative, at least they find your topic interesting enough to comment. I’d love to have you as a Guest Host on my blog. Please let me know when you’re ready to share a story. You can find me at “Life as a Mortician’s Wife. http://www.lifeasamorticianswife.com
Hope to chat with you soon. Take care.

Life As A Morticians Wife
I just started reading your blog and I have to say its definitely very interesting! Being 24 myself, its great to see other people in their profession. (I’m a bartender) I guess doing what I do, i’m the one on the other side of it giving people something to forget their pains. Anyway, keep up the good work, you write beautifully.
